  • GuideStar
    An information source about nonprofits that includes 990 tax returns, available for review at no cost.  This is an excellent resource for research foundation giving. 
  • Idealware
    Idealware, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides thoroughly researched, impartial and accessible resources about software to help nonprofits make smart software decisions.  In 2011, they published A Consumer’s Guide to Low Cost Donor Management Systems.
  • Maine Philanthropy  Center
    The Maine Philanthropy Center offers grant seekers educational programs, access to online resources, the Directory of Maine Grantmakers, and is a resource center for philanthropy.  Nonprofit organizations and those seeking grants utilize Maine Philanthropy Center to: Identify potential sources of grants matching their programmatic, geographic, and population focus; Research local and national foundations, corporate giving programs, and community funders;  Gain free access to materials on all aspects of philanthropy and nonprofit management, including fundraising, board development, and proposal writing.
  • Network for Good
    Network for Good makes it as easy to donate and volunteer online as it is to shop online, and we make it simple and affordable for all nonprofits, of any size, to recruit donors and volunteers via the Internet.   They also have a terrific Learning Center with  helpful articles on a wide range of fundraising topics.   • American Holistic Nurses Association
    American Holistic Nurses’ Certificate Corporation (AHNCC)
    AHNA offers Holistic Nurses networking opportunities, educational resources, and other activities important for growth as a Holistic Nurse.
  • Association for Gerontology in Higher Education
    The international leader in advancing education on aging and is the only institutional membership organization devoted primarily to gerontology and geriatrics education since 1974.  AGHE's mission is two-fold:  (1) To advance gerontology and geriatrics education in academic institutions; and (2) To provide leadership and support of gerontology and geriatrics education faculty and students at education institutions.
  • Co-Occurring Collaborative Serving Maine CCSME
    CCSME advocates for best practices, encourages professional development, maximizes collaboration, and facilitates integrated health and behavioral health services. With funding by the Maine Office of Substance Abuse, Department of Health and Human Services, CCSME works to create effective, integrated healthcare in Maine. As a leader in system change, CCSME is disseminating, training and providing technical assistance for evidence-based practices and consensus practice models for integrated treatment and prevention.
  • USM Undergraduate Certificate Program in Gerontology
    This 15 credit certificate program is designed for individuals working in or preparing for careers serving older adults. The program is multidisciplinary and addresses the health, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of this clinically complex population.
  • USM School of Nursing

  • The American Geriatrics Society
    A not-for-profit organization of over 6,000 health professionals devoted to improving the health, independence and quality of life of all older people. The Society provides leadership to healthcare professionals, policy makers and the public by implementing and advocating for programs in patient care, research, professional and public education, and public policy.

  • Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM)
    The world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 250,000 members in over 140 countries, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession.
  • Human Resources Association of Southern Maine (HRASM)
    An affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. Whether you are new to the HR field or have many years of experience, this is a local starting point for networking, information, professional development and continued support of excellence in Human Resources.

  • SHRM Maine State Council
    Affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. Chartered in Lewiston, ME. Great site for resources, networking opportunities, and events.

 

Mediation

  • Maine Association of Mediators
    The Maine Association of Mediators is a member-run organization dedicated to educating the public as to the benefits of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and assisting its members with their professional development.  
  • Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Service (CADRES)
    The Office of Court ADR maintains rosters of neutrals who can provide mediation, arbitration or early neutral evaluation in court cases. This website provides information on ADR in the courts as well as information on the requirements for becoming a neutral.

 

Project Management

  • Project Management Institute (PMI)
    Serving practitioners and organizations with standards that describe good practices, globally recognized credentials that certify project management expertise, and resources for professional development, networking and community. An international association with over 240,000 members in 160 countries.
  • Maine Project Management Institute (Maine PMI)
    The Maine Chapter was established in 1986 and is recognized, per capita, as one of the most active chapters in the United States. The Chapter holds monthly meetings, publishes a newsletter, provides free technical and educational advisory services to members and interested corporations, and operates a project management training program. Non-members are always welcome to attend chapter meetings.
