The state of Maine fell from 16 to 20 in the latest release of America's Health Rankings, matching its lowest point since the rankings began in 1990. Andrew Coburn, Associate Dean of the Muskie School of Public Service and public health professor, discussed the slip with the Portland Press Herald.

The town of Wiscasset didn't have to look too far for its next town planner. Muskie School of Public Service graduate Jamel Torres has been named to the position. Torres earned a Master's Degree in Community Planning and Development from the Muskie School.

Muskie School students with Madeleine Albright
The Muskie Centennial held on Saturday, November 15 celebrated the legacy of one of Maine's -- and the country's -- most dedicated public servants, Edmund Muskie. Friends and family of the distinguished politician, along with Muskie school students and alumni packed the Hannaford Hall auditorium for an afternoon full of anecdotes and lessons from Muskie's career.

Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords appeared at the Muskie School as the first stop on the Americans for Responsible Solutions (a group she founded with her husband) tour to foster discussions around domestic violence and guns.
Barbara Fraumeni traveled to Rotterdam, The Netherlands, to perform her official duties as IARIW chairperson at the 33rd International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW) General Conference. Individuals from over 35 countries attended the conference, which included some 150 papers on a wide variety of topics.
