The University of Southern Maine Foundation, incorporated in 1996, is an independent nonprofit fundraising organization whose purpose is to actively build and steward its resources in support of the University's mission of education, research, and public service and to educate the public about the activities and programs of the University of Southern Maine.

Melissa ‘52 and Richard “Doc” Costello
For those who knew Melissa and Richard “Doc” Costello, news of their $750,000 bequest to the University of Southern Maine (USM) was completely in character.
University of Southern Maine alumna Kate Cheney Chappell (’83) and co-founder of Tom’s of Maine, is also an accomplished artist and poet. She studied book arts under well-known Maine book artist and USM faculty member Rebecca Goodale.

Chip '90 and Laura '87 Foye

Chip '90 and Laura '87 Foye are two people who fully appreciate the value of a college education. As students at the University of Southern Maine, they both worked full time, attended classes in the evening and on weekends, and strove to balance the high demands of work, school and life. Read more.
