Portfolio Requirements

All USM Art majors are required to submit a portfolio before matriculating into the art program. The art candidate should submit a portfolio after completing foundation requirements, or while in the process of completing the final foundation courses. At least one of the two introductory art history courses must be completed before a student is eligible to submit. Students should follow portfolio guidelines carefully, and are encouraged to attend the portfolio preparation workshop offered two-weeks in advance of the portfolio review each semester. Criteria for acceptance include: ability to draw in a variety of ways, to create successful compositions, to use a number of media, and to think imaginatively. (portfolio guidelines pdf) (portfolio questionnaire.pdf)
